When You're on the Lord's Side, You're Given the Lord's Power

In Acts 4:13 it states that Peter and John were "unlearned and ignorant men". They were not the greatest scriptorians nor the the wisest servants of the Lord but they had great faith. It was through this faith in the Savior that they were able to gain such incredible power. The Sadducees recognized this power that they had and because of it they "marveled and took knowledge of them". In the same chapter Peter and John pray that they may be granted the ability to preach "with great boldness"(vs29) The result if this prayer is seen in vs 31 where it says, "and when they had prayed the place was shaken where they were assembled together and they were all filled wih the Holy Ghost and they spake the word of God with boldness." I love these scriptures because they demonstrate that the Lord can use anyone to accomplish His work. We don't have to worry about what we think we are capable of because the Lord already knows. If the Lord gives us an assignment in life it is because He trusts us and knows that we will be able to accomplish whatever task it may be with His aid. If we are able to put faith in the Lord and pray for His guidance we too will have access to the Lord's limitless power.

It amazes me how easy it is to forget the true power the Lord can wield on our righteous behalf. Often times in life when things get tough, Faith isn't the first thing to come to mind. In an ideal situation I would tell myself, the Lord created all things, by faith he created this world, he can help me accomplish much good. When too often, thoughts of complacency take its place.

This is so true. The Lord's work progresses as the "weak things of the earth" go throughout the world. They as with us are magnified by the power of the spirit. Elements and attributes we lack are filled by the power of the spirit with truth and the work progresses.

When you wrote about Peter and John being "unlearned and ignorant men" it reminded me of Joseph Smith how little education he had. It is so true that no matter who we are, if we are on the Lord's side, you will be given His power.
