Hello all.
I would say that what I really took away from last nights institute class was that it's never a one on one battle. It's never you verses the devil or a devil or anything like that. Now the reason for that is we have been given tools to use. Those tools include the Holy Ghost, Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, Good friend, Family along with our agency. Our agency can get us into a mess but it can get us back out too.
That is what I got from the spirit at class. The more I think about it the more I know it is true I'm just not very good at saying what I am thinking.
Class was about the body and spirit working together, how the body has it's weaknesses and we need to keep it in check and make sure that we are living our life with our spirit makeing the chocies so that we can stay on the right path and be happy forever. Whereas if we make our choices based on what the body wants the enjoyment will only last a short while.
Let the spirit rule! That is if it is intune
I really enjoyed several of the comments people shared. Although I don't remember word for word what they said, I will do my best.
Someone talked about how a temple is just a building until it is dedicated, similar to our bodies--our body is just a vessel until we dedicate it to God.
I really like this idea. We are all given bodies but it is up to us to decide what we will do with our bodies and how we will use them.
Another comment someone made was that Christ had a whip when he chased the men away from the temple--we need to be just as aggressive in chasing sin away from OUR temple.
I really liked this analogy because I have always found Christ's actions in this situation hard to understand. By putting the story into that perspective it helped me realize how symbolic that is to our daily lives.
